Your digital SMA companion

Carisma is an app by and for people with SMA and their families. It should help you to master your everyday life with SMA - centrally organized, clear and informative. In this way, Carisma supports you in everyday life with the organization of your relevant documents, milestones, appointments and medication. Carisma enables you to keep an individual eye on your health.

Carisma was developed in co-creation with the SMA community. The close cooperation between patients, relatives and medical experts is unique and will be continued. Your experiences are very valuable. Get actively involved in further development and help shape the future of SMA care!

What does Carisma offer you?

Everything at a glance: With Carisma, you can easily keep track of your medication, your therapies, your appointments and your state of health.

Everything in one place: Document everything that is important to you in the timeline. It works like a logbook that you can filter and sort. So you have access to all your appointments, documents, pictures, notes and much more at any time.

Your health in a nutshell: regularly record your symptoms and health data with trackers that are really relevant to you. Over time you will recognize changes or new connections.

Always well informed: Benefit from the latest information and exciting specialist articles about SMA. So you are always up to date!

Your doctor's appointment perfectly prepared: Use your compact health report when preparing for the discussions with your therapists. You can export your individual history at any time.

The most important things always at hand: use the emergency info for your important medical data, treatment details and contacts. So you are well prepared for stressful situations.

Your data in your hand

Self-determined & sovereign: When using Carisma, you may enter personal data about yourself and your health. You retain control over what happens to your data at all times.

Security & data protection: Your data is cryptographically secured in the Carisma Cloud, which means it is end-to-end encrypted and only your personal "Carisma key" allows access. Nobody can read your data, not even DHC as the operator of Carisma. This makes Carisma more secure than online banking or other health apps. In the future, you can still exchange data with your treatment team or other data by releasing your key - however, you remain 100% in control at all times!

Neutrality & transparency: Carisma is operated by the independent start-up Digital Health Companion (DHC), which was founded for this purpose by doctors from the SMA community.

Research & progress: You can actively agree that parts of your data can be used anonymously for research, e.g. for medical studies. With this data donation you are helping to further improve SMA therapy.

Our vision

Your care team in your pocket: Would you like to exchange information with your treatment team quickly and easily? We are working on expanding Carisma into a digital supply and exchange platform for you and your therapeutic environment.

Together for SMA: Carisma is based on a unique cooperation with the SMA community, which will continue to control the app in the future. Carisma is open to all people, associations and companies involved in therapy, care or research into SMA.
